Meta About GeekNights

Tonight on a very special GeekNights, we consider GeekNights. We've come a long way since we did a meta episode in 2005. We are back from the usual end-of-year hiatus with bold ideas and some fun new things to come! From the ancient original forum to Radio Free Equestria, Rym doodling on his keyboard to Lunch with Scott , we've done a lot of things over the last 15 years. Here's to another 15!

In the news, RIP College Humor, and AGDQ is live! We'll be live at PAX South 2020 next weekend!

Microphones

Tonight on GeekNights, we consider the Microphone. In the news, Netflix is reportedly adding a (likely-to-be-abused) 1.5x mode, Adobe got permission to continue to support the people of Venezuela, new AirPods are coming, and algorithms can definitely be racist.

Judith on the Spot

Tonight on GeekNights, Scott literally forgot to come to the studio, so rather than demonstrate the GeekNights process to our studio guest, I put Judith (@loltsundere) on the spot and made her a guest host. So what do we talk about? A bunch of meta about how GeekNights is made. Also Adventure Time, Teen Titans Go, Gay Marriage Victory, how horrible Louisiana is, the ridiculous Neckbeard Benghazi that is "#gamergate", and a bunch of other stuff. It's totally fun.

How We Do the Show with Rym

Tonight on GeekNights, it's just Rym talking about how we do the show, which currently involves a Shure Beta 58A, a Shure Beta 87A, 2xShure SM57s, a XENYX 1832, a Samson Scom Stereo Compressor/Expander, 2 Behringer U-Control USB soundcards, a Presonus Firestudio Mobile, a Marantz pmd660, and Adobe Audition 3.0. Mostly, this is a test of how well Rym can talk for twenty minutes nonstop.
