Tonight on GeekNights, we review the complete season one of Bee and PuppyCat. We talked about the first part of the season back in 2014, and we still regularly quote the pilot. Season two is still on the way! In the news, Vertigo comics is no more, Neon Genesis Evangelion is on Netflix with a few problems, we have an idea of what the canceled Mouse Guard movie could have been, and the Netflix Watership Down is... OK.
Tonight on GeekNights, we review the 1995-96 Gunsmith Cats OAV, directed by Takeshi Mori and based on the manga by Kenichi Sonoda. It's a wild and succinct trip into what 90s anime were like. In the news, Looney Tunes are back, the Utena Musicals are covering Black Rose, a creepy guy sued Funimation, a handy twitter blocklist will keep fans of that creepy guy out of your mentions, and Junji Ito was at TCAF!
Tonight on GeekNights, we review the new remake/redo of Fruits Basket. In the news, Kunihiko Ikuhara directed five episodes of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Detective Pikachu is apparently pretty good, and almost everyone who's mad at Adobe is wrong about what they're mad about.
Tonight on GeekNights, we have our final thoughts on the full run of Adventure Time. It's a phenomenal show: there's no other way to say it. We did a mini review back in 2014. Rym didn't even start watching the show until What Was Missing premiered. From the original short in 2008 to the perfect last episode, this show is a treasure.
In the news, Castle of Cagliostro and Penguin Highway are playing in NYC, Monkey Punch has passed on, and you can finally read the end of Initial D. Our Rare Game Mechanics and The Real Harm of Games panels are on youtube!
Tonight on GeekNights, rather than talking about traditional webcomics, we consider the ones we stumble upon ad hoc in our social media feeds. Things like False Knees or webcomicname. Hit up the GeekNights Forum to see the list, and also to share the ones we forgot to mention!
In the news, Conan the Barbarian is now an Avenger, returned to Marvel, fought Wolverine that one time, and is available again! Also, watch out for these so-called "Vic" fans: they're basically gomergate all over again. We hope to see you at both Zenkaikon and PAX East!
Tonight on GeekNights, we review the delightful Tatami Galaxy anime. Adapted from Tomihiko Morimi's novel, it's worth a watch. Especially if you liked The Night is Short, Walk On Girl or Eccentric Family. In the news, Brian K. Vaughan is writing a live action Gundam film, Galaxy Express 999 was remastered, and Funimation is releasing a Dragon Ball Z collector box if they get enough pre-orders.
Tonight on GeekNights, we review the Dororo anime that recently came out (as opposed to the one from 50 years ago). It's a telling of Tezuka's Dororo manga with a modern sensibility. In the news, Gundam NT is apparently Gundam "Nice Try," you may recall our review of Gundam F91 from 2006, Battle Angel Alita is inexplicably good, and Katsucon turned itself into a closed profile event, something MAGFest should also do.
