[03:18:44] <Aria> Writing visual novels is a lot of work.
[03:18:59] <Aria> Or using ren'py rather. The actual work is only about 5% of my time
[03:19:28] <Aria> The rest is struggling with the indentation and having everything in one long text file

[06:44:11] <Bronz|work> Hi Apsup.
[06:44:18] <Apsup> Morning.
[06:44:32] <Apsup> Tired x_x
[06:45:07] <Bronz|work> I feelz ya
[06:48:18] <Apsup> Will leave today to spend rest of the week with family, in the middle of the woods. Very little internet for few days for me incoming.
[07:05:49] <Bronz|work> Ah, ok.
[07:05:56] <Bronz|work> I hope you find some enjoyment there
[07:06:04] <Bronz|work> Even if there is no FF in the woods.
[07:06:39] <Apsup> My plan is to visit a bookstore on the way to bus-station.
[07:58:19] <Bronz|work> Ok, brb

[08:17:23] <Bronz|work> Hello!
[08:17:27] <Apsup> Hi again.
[08:50:10] <Bronz|work> How goes?
[08:50:24] <Apsup> Coffee, morning, casual and normal.
[08:51:02] <Bronz|work> Good.
[08:55:06] <Apsup> Wheel in my chair broke recently. I can manage without it, but I maybe should look into getting a replacement, also to lose weight.
[08:57:19] <Bronz|work> Did it break under the weight then?
[08:57:48] <Apsup> Well, I assume that's what did it in, eventually. It's not like it happened on it's own, while I wasn't around.
[08:58:09] <Bronz|work> Yeah, I guess that's fair.
[08:58:21] <Apsup> Of course it could be a collection of multiple factors over long time.
[08:59:12] <Apsup> Like, maybe if I sat properly my weight would distribute more evenly causing less strain to individual legs. I dunno.
[09:00:07] <Bronz|work> Do you have carpet under the wheels?
[09:00:12] <Apsup> Yes.
[09:00:14] <Bronz|work> That's supposed to be pretty bad too.
[09:00:47] <Apsup> Well, to be honest, I have some nasty marks on the floor from time when I didn't use the carpet so I rather keep this.
[09:01:14] <Bronz|work> Yeah, that's fair. Also, it's much nicer on your feet.
[09:01:41] <Apsup> So it is.
[09:04:31] <Bronz|work> brb
[09:04:32] -!- Bronz|work has quit [Quit: leaving]

[09:05:29] <Bronz|work> 'k.
[09:06:48] <Apsup> welcome back
[09:31:36] <Bronz|work> I put irssi in a screen session now.
[09:31:46] <Bronz|work> So I can have it open in multiple terminal windows.
[09:31:58] <Bronz|work> And I can close this window without closing the IRC session, which is nice.
[09:32:47] <Apsup> That is good.
[09:36:23] <Bronz|work> I have the feeling that you don't care, but that's ok.
[09:36:27] <Bronz|work> Because I'm happy
[09:37:04] <Apsup> Nah, I think that's super convinient. I used to have irssi session on screen on university's machine that was basically made for that purpose.
[09:37:39] <Apsup> They took it down. Also it only connected to one irc network, so I had to use alternative means anyways.
[09:45:40] -!- Aria [Aria!Aria@hide-57D02771.agg2.bdt.bdt-fng.eircom.net] has joined #geeknights
[09:46:51] <Aria> Hi
[09:48:29] <Bronz|work> Hi Aria
[09:48:32] <Bronz|work> Had a good nap time?
[09:48:41] <Aria> Sure!
[09:48:51] <Bronz|work> I was just all "How come I can't hear my music?"
[09:49:06] <Bronz|work> Changed the volume, paused and unpaused...
[09:49:10] <Bronz|work> I didn't have my earbud in.
[09:49:17] <Aria> Aw..
[09:51:22] <Bronz|work> Also, how come Redhat doesn't come with screen pre-installed?
[09:51:27] <Bronz|work> What's up with that?
[09:51:46] <Aria> That's weird
[09:52:16] <Aria> Does it have tmux instead?
[09:55:25] <Bronz|work> Nope.
[09:55:34] <Apsup> Morning Aria.
[10:21:53] <Bronz|work> Hey Aria, did you hear Apsup is leaving forever?
[10:22:00] <Aria> Oh no
[10:22:02] <Bronz|work> He's gonna go be eaten by a bear, I heard.
[10:22:02] <Aria> No I didn't
[10:22:13] <Aria> But if you know ahead of time, just avoid the bear
[10:22:37] <Bronz|work> Avoiding bears isn't hard, just be where bears aren't.
[10:22:53] <Bronz|work> and, (this is the clever bit), don't be where bears are!
[10:23:34] <Aria> I want a Kat VR
[10:23:38] <Aria> They uploaded a new video
[10:23:55] <Aria> It's not the home version, and it doesn't look updated or changed at all
[10:24:05] <Aria> But yknow, if they're uploading videos, they aren't dead.
[10:25:09] <Bronz|work> Oh, Kat Walk, that's dumb.
[10:25:27] <Bronz|work> You know what's more dumb? http://www.roadtovr.com
[10:25:30] <Aria> Why? Its great
[10:25:43] <Bronz|work> Why even HAVE this thing, if you're just gonna sit in the chair.
[10:25:43] <Aria> Um...
[10:25:59] <Aria> That might be a joke?
[10:26:03] <Aria> From roadtovr
[10:26:17] <Aria> Anyway I want a walking mill, and this seems like a good one
[10:26:28] <Aria> The home version was only gonna be like 400 or whatever
[10:27:16] <Apsup> I think Bronze took me going into the woods, a bit too literally.
[10:28:00] <Bronz|work> Listen, I know what eupenisms are. I've heard of plenty of puppers being "taken into the woods" or "Retire on the farm".
[10:28:28] <Aria> Apparently 800 people worked on Get Even, what the fuck?
[10:28:39] <Aria> (https://youtu.be/e8U6WgL6hjA)
[10:28:59] <Aria> I mean, I know its a proper game, but it's not like... 80 million kind of proper
[10:29:13] <Aria> I expected 30 people
[10:29:25] <Bronz|work> That's a lot of people.
[10:33:51] <Aria> What a shitty design.
[10:34:12] <Aria> Editra, in the ctrl F search
[10:34:35] <Aria> One, it makes the 'end of page' sound every time you search/go to next result, even if there are plenty of more results
[10:35:02] <Aria> And more importantly, two, volume up in previous result, volume down next result.
[10:37:34] <Bronz|work> ...
[10:37:38] <Bronz|work> hat sucks.
[10:37:40] <Bronz|work> *That
[10:38:14] <Bronz|work> Oh, hey, you know when you sudo, and you make a mistake, and you don't know how many characters you've typed so far so you just mash backspace a bunch until you're pretty sure you've got all of em?
[10:38:27] <Bronz|work> Well, apperantly, you can press Ctrl+U to delete a whole line of text in the terminal.
[10:38:28] <Aria> Yes.
[10:38:34] <Aria> Oh hey
[10:38:37] <Aria> Cool
[10:38:53] <Bronz|work> So you're gonna forget that in like, 10 minutes, but hey it exists.
[10:43:39] <Aria> I'll remember until the end of the day
[11:21:07] <Aria> Okay so..
[11:21:59] <Aria> If the grouped term for human and doggo man is 'furman'
[11:22:06] <Aria> Would it then be mankind of furkind?
[11:22:23] <Bronz|work> You could go with furmankind
[11:22:30] <Bronz|work> As in humankind, but with furman, instead.
[11:22:36] <Bronz|work> Or furmanity.
[11:22:45] <Aria> furmanity sounds so forced
[11:24:12] <Aria> Also if lizardmen have similar levels of sentience, wouldn't the term mankind also include them? You have a human/furry combo because they're similar to where that makes sense. But "All mankind" should be everyone, right?
[11:25:23] <Bronz|work> I feel that language would evolve very differently if there were three categories.
[11:26:14] <Bronz|work> also, I have a bug in my snake game, where if I eat a food, that section of the body is skipped drawing?
[11:26:40] <Apsup> "All people"?
[11:26:53] <Aria> That makes sense. It's full. Can't use that block to digest more food, so its out of the game
[11:27:03] <Aria> I'll go with all people, thanks
[11:27:24] <Bronz|work> Ah, yeah. human for the actual humans, and people for all the different humanoids.
[11:27:54] <Aria> In this case the speaker is specifically talking about the human compatible ones though
[11:28:10] <Bronz|work> Oh right, that's... yeah.
[11:29:11] <Apsup> When I was teen, I took part in a forum rpg -thing and it's worldbuilding did some mistakes with that stuff. Alongside you having to remember totally original fantasy races with funny names, it had it's own word to be used like 'human' but encapsulating all races.
[11:29:53] <Aria> I want to avoid gibberish proper nouns. Because it won't be gibberish to the inhabitants of the world
[11:29:54] <Apsup> I didn't realize it then, but remembering things about it after the fact has occasionally made me go "hey...that wasn't so well written and developed as I though when I was stupid kid".
[11:30:02] <Aria> So you should be able to guess what it means when you encounter it
[11:30:27] <Apsup> That's the best approach.
[11:30:51] <Aria> So even if it doesn't sound cool, just combining two words works just fine for me
[11:32:20] <Aria> In my world, there are three races. Humans and furry humans. The furry humans and humans have most of the same properties. They're mammals, have periods, breastfeed their young, etc etc. Live in the same areas and for most of it intermingle
[11:33:02] <Aria> And then there is a third race of reptile men who are weird and other. They also get along, but there are very few of them where the story is set, because its a human/furry country
[11:34:10] <Aria> And they need different accommodation and are interested in different types of products
[11:34:41] <Aria> Oh yeah, also I'm going for trope-y fantasy, so I don't want anything to ever seem complicated and 'deep'
[11:43:42] <Aria> And then also there are a bunch of like-- y'know, enemy races. Trolls and cyclops and things. But don't worry, it's okay to kill those, because video games.
[12:33:23] <Bronz|work> Hey, have you heard about the platoon headset?
[12:33:33] <Aria> No?
[12:33:44] <Bronz|work> Ok, so, you need to plug it into your switch, right?
[12:33:44] <Aria> Splatoon?
[12:33:51] <Bronz|work> But also into your smartphone
[12:33:58] <Bronz|work> Because it networks using your smartphone.
[12:34:13] <Bronz|work> Also, it's made by Hori, licensed by Nintendo.
[12:34:14] <Bronz|work> http://www.tomshardware.co.uk
[12:34:52] <Aria> Huh.
[12:35:58] <Bronz|work> On a scale from 1 to 10, this is bananas
[12:48:05] -!- Apsup has quit [Read error]
[13:19:14] <Aria> What are some fantasy setting things you might want as a person?
[13:19:26] <Aria> Like something too expensive for an impulse purchase
[13:20:04] <Aria> Not quite as expensive as a car
[13:20:17] <Aria> But yknow, maybe like that new iphone when you just got your current iphone
[13:20:42] <Aria> Fantasy medieval. You know Hero Quest, I don't need to explain it
[13:33:17] <Bronz|work> ...
[13:33:24] <Aria> Yes?
[13:33:27] <Bronz|work> I figured out why my stupid snake game doesn't work.
[13:33:35] <Bronz|work> The foreach function changes the scope.
[13:33:43] <Bronz|work> Stupid javascript, warn me 'bout this shit!
[13:34:10] <Aria> So anyway, what are some cool luxuries for the medieval person?
[13:34:25] <Bronz|work> Oh well, tapastries, apperantly.
[13:34:31] <Bronz|work> that's what I remember from that show.
[13:34:31] <Aria> Preferably something non-perishable
[13:34:45] <Aria> Tapestries are communal
[13:34:49] <Aria> Needs to be private
[13:34:52] <Bronz|work> A nearby well?
[13:34:58] <Bronz|work> Oh like, stuff someone owns?
[13:35:12] <Bronz|work> Well, nice furniture, nice personal items like fancy brush/comb?
[13:35:13] <Aria> Yeah, like a fancy sweater or whatever
[13:35:30] <Aria> Exactly. But pricer
[13:35:43] <Bronz|work> I think there were low and high quality leatehrs, which you could make better/worse shoes out of.
[13:36:16] <Aria> Okay but because of reasons it can't be clothes
[13:36:25] <Aria> Or shoes
[13:36:54] <Bronz|work> Here's an hourlong documentary about it... http://michaelscottweb.com
[13:37:04] <Aria> Perfect. Thank you
[13:37:42] <Aria> Fucking Vimeo is garbage. You can't full screen embeds
[13:38:01] <Aria> How does Vimeo have any users? I don't understand
[13:48:48] <Bronz|work> Hey Aria, can you follow this answer? https://stackoverflow.com
[13:49:58] <Aria> No
[14:08:57] <Bronz|work> Neither can I/
