[07:12:50] <Apsup> Good morning.
[07:13:37] <Aria> Oh hello
[07:13:49] <Aria> Wasn't expecting you on this early
[07:13:52] <Aria> How are things?
[07:14:32] <Apsup> Fine fine. Woke up 10 minutes before the alarm.
[07:15:21] <Aria> We watched that Asssassin's Creed movie!
[07:15:27] <Aria> It wasn't terrible
[07:15:42] <Aria> I mean, it was super not what I wanted out
[07:15:52] <Aria> But considering what they went for, I feel they did an alright job
[07:16:11] <Aria> Certainly a lot of bad decisions, but it could've been a lot worse
[07:16:47] <Aria> Let me rephrase. Many bad decisions, but the execution was professional/competent
[07:17:12] <Aria> We also watched that new Harry Potter
[07:17:18] <Aria> It was also not terrible
[07:17:49] <Apsup> The last movie, or did they make something after?
[07:17:59] <Aria> 2016?
[07:18:17] <Aria> It was a solid movie, can easily entertain you, but it did not at all feel like it can support four sequels like they're doing
[07:18:19] <Apsup> Oh, right that.
[07:18:38] <Apsup> I have been thinking about seeing it at some point maybe.
[07:18:50] <Aria> Well good news, it's on the pirate bay
[07:19:08] <Apsup> Things usually are.
[07:19:10] <Aria> Speaking off, I wanted to watch some of the behind the scenes stuff
[07:29:39] <Bronz|work> Good morning!
[07:32:05] <Aria> Hello
[07:32:17] <Aria> what did you think of Assassin's Creed?
[07:32:23] <Aria> Have you played the games, Apsup?
[07:32:48] <Apsup> Ass creeds? Second, one of it's sequels and 4.
[07:41:15] <Bronz|work> Also known as "the good ones"
[07:41:25] <Bronz|work> that said, my favourite AC game of all time is the first one.
[07:46:04] <Aria> Of all time!
[07:46:05] <Apsup> I think I have it on PC, but never got around playing it.
[07:46:08] <Aria> Anyway, what about the movie
[07:46:13] <Apsup> Not seen.
[07:46:13] <Aria> I reviewed it ^
[07:46:18] <Aria> No I meant Bronz|work
[07:57:27] <Apsup> Update: I have my morning coffee. Life is real good now.
[07:57:40] <Bronz|work> Yes, the movie is my favourite Assassin's Creed movie.
[07:57:53] <Bronz|work> Actually, scratch that, the one Ubisoft made using it's cutscene team was better.
[07:58:30] <Aria> The Prince of Persia movie was better
[07:58:35] <Bronz|work> That was more of a mini-series though.
[07:58:42] <Bronz|work> Oh, that's true
[07:59:01] <Bronz|work> I thought the IRL parts of the AC movie were pretty alright. It could make an ok TV show.
[07:59:08] <Aria> Oh yeah!
[07:59:10] <Bronz|work> AC should totally be a TV show!
[07:59:10] <Aria> There you go
[07:59:16] <Aria> it would've been a great TV show
[07:59:43] <Aria> Even how it switches between VR and RL would work a lot better in a show
[07:59:46] <Aria> Man those idiots
[08:00:04] <Bronz|work> With the over-arching templars vs assassin's plot, and the monster of the day style "back in history" plots...
[08:01:06] <Bronz|work> ... this huwei advert is just an advert for that new kong movie.
[08:01:27] <Bronz|work> But then in the final splash screen it says "buy our phones" instead of "see our movie"
[08:01:29] <Aria> Yes, but wouldn't it be way better if you watched it on your phone?
[08:01:39] <Bronz|work> Also, the bitrate on the advert is god aweful.
[08:03:07] <Aria> Have you heard Cumberbatch say penguin?
[08:06:54] <Aria> https://youtu.be
[08:27:01] <Bronz|work> I'll have a look in a few minutes.
[09:02:13] <Aria> Hi I'm back
[09:02:41] <Bronz|work> How was not being here?
[09:03:14] <Aria> Wet.
[09:03:27] <Aria> Not entirely pleasant, but could be worse
[09:03:42] <Bronz|work> Ah, fair enough.
[09:05:22] <Bronz|work> I got the same advert again, and man it's so weird how they just intercut footage from the movie and the phone.
[09:05:44] <Bronz|work> It as if they gave some poor guy two trailers and were like "make a co-op advert" "Oh also, you have 1 hour)
[09:06:13] <Aria> =)
[09:06:20] <Bronz|work> "That's not enough time to render!" he protested "User lower settings then" they countered.
[09:13:18] <Aria> That's a good one
[09:19:55] <Bronz|work> Thanks.
[09:20:56] <Aria> So some guy got kicked off a plane, and reddit are saying the plane company fucked up because the bad PR is so much worse than the however much compensation they would have to offer him before he left voluntarily
[09:21:23] <Aria> But I find that very hard to believe. Nobody cares who they fly with, they use API searches
[09:21:34] <Aria> Also this newsstory will be forgotten in like six hours
[09:39:51] <Aria> Id should make the next Fallout
[09:40:15] <Aria> Or Machine Games maybe
[09:40:23] <Bronz|work> Why was he kicked off the plane anyway?
[09:40:28] <Aria> The other one should do the next Elderscrolls
[09:40:46] <Bronz|work> Hmm.
[09:41:01] <Aria> 4 staff were needed at the destination, so they decided to boot 4 costumers and give staff those seats
[09:41:26] <Bronz|work> Oh I see.
[09:42:04] <Bronz|work> I mean, that sucks for those people but sure.
[09:42:37] <Bronz|work> I guess they could've made an annoucement that was "Hey, if you catch the next flight instead, we'll give you your ticket price back, first four takers plz
[09:43:13] <Aria> That's what they did. Well sorta. They said first 4 takers get 400 USD
[09:43:25] <Aria> (Not sure how they deal with the money you already paid)
[09:43:50] <Bronz|work> Oh then, that seems completely reasonable.
[09:43:51] <Aria> Noone bit, they said 800, no one bit, so they picked 4 people at random.
[09:44:10] <Bronz|work> I think that plane company is pretty cool then.
[09:44:40] <Aria> Well--
[09:45:05] <Aria> So the problem is, they called the police to get the guy off the plane who was selected randomly
[09:45:10] <Aria> Because he was refusing
[09:45:22] <Aria> And then he fought with the police and got injured
[09:45:26] <Bronz|work> Oh, well...
[09:45:33] <Bronz|work> I mean, that's not really the plane company's fault
[09:45:49] <Aria> There's a video, I didn't watch it, but supposedly the police handle it very poorly and are needlessly violent
[09:46:09] <Bronz|work> That's the police's fault though, it sounds like then.
[09:46:10] <Aria> It's the plane companies fault that they are in a situation where someone had to give up their seat
[09:46:40] <Aria> But I agree, it doesn't seem like that big of a deal that it would majorly hurt their brand
[09:46:57] <Bronz|work> That's true, but that offence was not so large, and they tried to rectify the best way they could.
[09:47:18] <Aria> Argument is, they should've kept increasing the payout until someone wanted it
[09:47:55] <Bronz|work> They don't need to do anything.
[09:48:20] <Bronz|work> It's nice of them to offer $800 bucks in the first place
[09:48:58] <Aria> In Europe, they can't force you off the plane unless justified.
[09:49:17] <Aria> This was America though, where they probably can, I'll just guess..
[09:50:31] <Aria> ... This guy is doing a GDC talk
[09:50:39] <Aria> I think he's colour blind or something
[09:50:48] <Aria> But didn't properly disclose that.
[09:51:04] <Aria> He's showing a graph with multiple data points. "Green is X, blue is Y"
[09:51:08] <Aria> There is no green.
[09:51:32] <Aria> There's a legend, that says yellow is actually X
[09:52:02] <Bronz|work> How yellow...
[09:52:11] <Aria> Not green at all yellow
[09:52:20] <Bronz|work> Because mis-match in colour is a cultural thing, and yellow is close to green.
[09:52:29] <Bronz|work> Also, yellow is a terrible colour for a graph.
[09:52:39] <Aria> Sooner red than green.
[09:53:32] <Bronz|work> Ok, fair enough.
[09:58:24] <Aria> I must be a genius, because this guy has spent like two years and done a bunch of research to tell you what geniuses like me could tell you from having played a video game at some point
[09:58:46] -!- Demisedulous has quit [Quit: Sleeping]
[09:59:10] <Aria> Namely that people don't play games to role play people other than themselves, but to play in sandboxes.
[10:00:30] <Aria> Sandboxes as in, not sandbox type games where they are open world and give you a lot of low impact verbs, but worlds of any size with verbs of any impact level, preferably very high
[10:05:17] <Aria> He's been studying player psychology for ten years, but still his assumption was that most players don't play as characters who share their own personality traits when given the option?! How does that even happen?
[10:34:44] <Aria> Alright, I need some sleep. Please wake me up for dinner
[10:35:08] <Bronz|work> Ok, bye
[10:35:11] <Bronz|work> Enjoy your nap.
[10:35:21] <Aria> Thank you
