[05:49:30] -!- Apsup has quit [Ping timeout: 180 seconds]
[06:49:51] <Bronz|work> Good morning.
[06:50:01] <Aria> Morning!
[06:50:14] <Aria> How's today?
[06:50:36] <Bronz|work> Pretty good so far.
[06:51:13] <Bronz|work> I invited Daniel over to play videogames today.
[06:51:21] <Aria> Oh you did?
[06:51:32] <Aria> But we had plans today...
[06:51:32] <Bronz|work> This time he's done at the same time as me, so I'm making sure he comes over by escorting him.
[06:51:37] <Bronz|work> We had plans...?
[06:51:48] <Aria> I guess not...
[06:51:53] <Bronz|work> D=
[06:52:02] <Bronz|work> What were we planning?
[06:52:20] <Aria> Gimmick run of Dark Souls
[06:52:26] <Bronz|work> Ooooh right.
[06:52:43] <Bronz|work> I think it's probably better to stream on Saterday, when the audience is a little bigger.
[06:53:29] <Aria> You mean when the competition is bigger!
[06:55:13] <Bronz|work> That's true.
[08:06:17] <Aria> Shame about that Ubuntu Edge phone
[08:07:12] <Aria> Also Ubuntu built a Netflix competitor
[08:07:37] <Aria> It doesn't tie into a movie library yet, they just built the server infrastructure and client
[08:08:03] <Aria> But the current implementation, when you click on a movie, it starts playing, and there is a button underneath that says "Pay"
[08:08:37] <Aria> Unlike say YouTube, where a trailer plays, and then afterwards asks you to pay, and if you pay, the full movie plays
[08:21:13] <Bronz|work> Hmm, interesting.
[08:21:28] <Bronz|work> How does it stop you from playing the whole movie though?
[08:21:36] <Aria> It doesn't.
[08:21:52] <Aria> I mean, I assume they'll build that stuff after spec when someone licenses it
[08:22:05] <Aria> I doubt they actually want to get into video streaming
[08:22:19] <Aria> Oh wait, it's probably for Amazon prime
[08:27:25] <Bronz|work> Ah, yeah, that makes sense.
[08:56:05] <Bronz|work> You know what would be a great game to play super blind? RE4.
[09:03:04] <Aria> ...Oh yeah
[09:03:06] <Aria> No wait
[09:03:10] <Aria> you need to aim in that
[09:03:31] <Aria> Okay what if the seeing guy
[09:03:33] <Aria> Can aim
[09:03:55] <Aria> Its the wii version, so player has all the buttons, conductor has the IR pointer
[09:04:13] <Aria> That doesn't seem as exciting
[09:05:54] <Bronz|work> Hmm...
[09:06:13] <Bronz|work> I was thinking that the blind guy was in control of everything.
[09:06:29] <Bronz|work> It might end up with a lot more knife work.
[09:06:36] <Bronz|work> Also, inventory tetris would be fun.
[09:07:03] <Aria> We can write auto aim code
[09:07:08] <Aria> Because emulator
[09:07:41] <Bronz|work> Oh, that might be hard...
[09:08:03] <Bronz|work> I dunno, zombies are kind of slow...
[09:08:26] <Bronz|work> Also, I imagine the scene with the boulder, where you shout "a,a,a,a,a,a,a,a,a,a,a,a,a,a".
[09:08:30] <Bronz|work> And that's funny to me.
[09:08:34] <Aria> We can find the parameters for the auto aim that's already in there and crank it up?
[09:08:37] <Bronz|work> QTEs might be hard...
[09:14:59] <Aria> There might be mod tools that can help us with that
[09:15:56] <Aria> Also while researching this
[09:16:47] <Aria> I found that Polygon, Engadget and Kotaku, all real respected news sites, made articles about a Mark Brown video where he talks about the difficulty in RE4
[09:17:32] <Aria> But I mean, it's not like he's either associated with the game or did research about how the game worked. He just made a good video article about it, and those other sides just straight up hosted his video and claimed it their own
[09:17:47] <Bronz|work> Oh.
[09:17:50] <Bronz|work> That's not cool
[09:18:17] <Bronz|work> Btw, you should tell Daveyo520 to play RE6. You can find my tweet about the very same in my twitter timeline
[09:19:01] <Aria> I mean, its a YouTube embed. But it's like "Article: RE4 dynamic difficulty", you click, and then there is a blurb "Did you know RE4 does dynamic difficulty? Here's a video Mark Brown made about it! <video embed> Any comments? Leave them below!"
[09:19:30] <Aria> That kind of article is okay when the video is like 30 seconds of someone looking at the debug screen
[09:20:05] <Aria> Or when Capcom puts out an official video where they go like "Oh yeah we're so smart because we did this thing in the past. Let me tell you about it. Anyway, go play RE5"
[09:20:28] <Aria> Like, Polygon wouldn't write an article where they iframe an IGN article.
[09:21:02] <Bronz|work> Yeah...
[09:21:10] <Aria> But they would write an article where they include "In an IGN interview, Greg from Gregsoft said that in Gregsouls 3, there will be more food items"
[09:21:20] <Aria> But then with padding on both sides
[09:21:35] <Bronz|work> If you do something like that, that's only ok if you include a "This was made by [guy], you can find more of his work at [place[.
[09:22:01] <Aria> I mean, they sorta do that, but I don't think that is enough
[09:22:14] <Aria> You usually pay your freelance writers AND give credit.
[09:22:41] <Aria> Video articles are higher effort than written articles, they should pay him double, not not pay him
[09:33:15] <Bronz|work> That's fair.
[09:35:35] <Aria> Why does Namco Bandai not like money?
[09:36:51] <Aria> Like, when people say that about other people, its like "You own valuable IP, X, why not bet 200 million on it", which to me is very obvious why you might choose not to do
[09:38:29] <Aria> But Namco keep betting like 5-10 million on B games, when no one else in games wants anything to do with B games
[09:38:52] <Aria> And I highly doubt it ever works out for them. Project Cars is getting a sequel, so maybe that worked
[09:39:09] <Aria> But who's gonna buy Little Nightmares, or Impact Winter
[09:41:04] <Bronz|work> Every time I heard people talk about little nightmares, it's preceded by "I'm really excited for..."
[09:41:33] <Aria> That is weird.
[09:46:51] <Aria> Okay so I compiled a list
[09:47:16] <Aria> Of every bad business decision they made in the last 3 years
[09:47:28] <Bronz|work> ...
[09:47:35] <Bronz|work> aha?
[09:47:35] <Aria> I put a * after the ones I don't think worked out, and a @ next to the ones I think did
[09:47:45] <Aria> Nvm the star system
[09:47:53] <Aria> None of these worked out with the exception of Project Cars
[09:47:57] <Bronz|work> =P
[09:48:27] <Aria> And Enslaved if you change the criteria to 5 years instead of 3.
[09:48:29] <Aria> But anywah
[09:48:49] <Aria> Inversion
[09:48:52] <Aria> Enemy Front
[09:48:57] <Aria> Rise of Incarnates
[09:49:01] <Aria> Project Cars
[09:49:03] <Aria> Get Even
[09:49:05] <Aria> Impact Winter
[09:49:07] <Aria> Little Nightmares
[09:49:11] <Aria> Necropolis
[09:49:14] <Aria> Lost Reavers
[09:49:17] <Aria> Ray Gigant
[09:49:21] <Aria> Tenkai Knights
[09:49:36] <Bronz|work> Inversion earned it's budget back, didn't it?
[09:49:49] <Bronz|work> Or did you look up how much each actually earned as well?
[09:49:53] <Aria> I've never seen Inversion not on sale for like $1
[09:50:28] <Aria> No I didn't look up shit, completely baseless just judging based on my perception of the performance
[09:50:52] <Aria> I ASSUME they all made their budgets back at least, they can't actually be operating at a loss
[09:51:14] <Aria> But they most certainly are not maximising profits like this
[09:53:21] <Aria> Oh and DeadCore
[09:54:10] <Aria> DeadCore actually sold 200k!
[09:54:14] <Aria> That's not terrible
[09:54:51] <Aria> But it is terrible in the world of "Tomb Raider was a huge commercial flop and we are strongly rethinking the franchise" at 4 million or whatever that was
[09:59:51] <Aria> There is a cancole movie.
[10:00:02] <Aria> kancolle*?
[10:06:24] <Aria> There's a sequel to Fifty Shades of Gray
[10:06:35] <Aria> Didn't get as much attention as the first one
[10:06:38] <Aria> Or any I guess
[10:09:37] <Aria> The trump people made up another terrorist attack
[10:14:15] <Bronz|work> ...
[10:14:18] <Bronz|work> well
[10:14:23] <Bronz|work> That's no good.
[10:14:43] <Bronz|work> Kim came by and told us to play Mystical Ninja 2 Staring Goemon
[10:14:56] <Bronz|work> (Ganbare Goemon Derodero Dōchū Obake Tenko Mori)
[10:15:00] <Aria> Aha?
[10:15:04] <Aria> I have played that game
[10:16:03] <Bronz|work> He said he's been playing it recently, and that it's the most amazing n64 game out of all of them.
[10:16:09] <Bronz|work> So that's pretty high praise.
[10:16:19] <Aria> 1 is better
[10:16:37] <Aria> Also that is super not true
[10:16:50] <Aria> I think the N64 Goemon games are great but c'mon
[10:16:54] <Aria> Trouble Makers is better
[10:16:58] <Aria> Tsumi to Batsu is better
[10:17:04] <Aria> Zelda Ocarina and Majora both better
[10:17:09] <Aria> Mario 64 better
[10:17:32] <Aria> Is this loud Kim or new Kim?
[10:17:54] <Bronz|work> Loud kim.
[10:18:37] <Aria> Tell him I think 1 is better.
[10:20:10] <Bronz|work> Ok, I will.
[10:28:05] <Aria> http://i.imgur.com
[10:29:21] <Bronz|work> ... what's happening there?
[10:30:05] <Aria> Australia got exploded
[10:30:09] <Aria> Or yknow, warm
[10:30:51] <Bronz|work> =P
[10:36:01] <Bronz|work> I told Kim, he says he likes it.
[10:42:55] -!- Apsup [Apsup!Apsup@Clk-C3A41BC5.kortex.jyu.fi] has joined #geeknights
[10:44:53] <Bronz|work> Hi Apsup..
[10:44:57] <Apsup> hii
[10:45:01] <Aria> Hello
[10:47:56] <Bronz|work> I like bringing sammiches to work.
[11:20:13] <Aria> I've ran into a problem with our Twitch plans
[11:20:22] <Aria> Our USB2 doesn't seem to have the bandwidth
[11:20:40] <Aria> USB hub which happens to be on USB2*
[11:20:57] <Aria> Bandwith for 3 webcams and also a USB mic
[11:22:14] <Bronz|work> Ah, ok.
[11:22:23] <Bronz|work> So we need to use a different USB bus.
[11:22:36] <Bronz|work> Well, We have that USB 3 hub, and a USB 3 extention cable...
[11:23:43] <Aria> We're gonna be using that for the VR headset
[11:24:35] <Aria> I can only get 2 webcams going at once
[11:24:38] <Aria> I guess that's enough
[11:25:56] <Bronz|work> Well, we don't need to have a VR headset...
[11:26:09] <Bronz|work> that gimmic seems a bit specific.
[11:26:27] <Aria> Its the best way to do the thing we want
[11:26:38] <Aria> Unless I set up a monitor between us
[11:28:02] <Bronz|work> Yeah, we would want to avoid glances.
[11:54:02] <Aria> Okay!
[11:54:10] <Aria> I have three cameras
[11:54:14] <Bronz|work> Woo!
[11:54:17] <Aria> I have VR functionality
[11:54:23] <Aria> Only 2 camera tracking through
[11:54:25] <Aria> But thats fine
[11:54:29] <Bronz|work> You're gonna do live editing?
[11:54:40] <Aria> No?
[11:55:51] <Bronz|work> Oh, you mean VR webcams
[11:56:01] <Bronz|work> Not like, streaming our faces webcams
[11:56:27] <Aria> No I mean streaming our faces VR
[11:56:32] <Aria> Do you not want to appear on camera?
[11:56:43] <Aria> Kinda defeats the purpose if you can't see the gestures Im making
[11:56:58] <Aria> I guess I could hold Touch controllers
[11:57:01] <Bronz|work> ...
[11:57:04] <Bronz|work> Uhm.
[11:57:10] <Aria> And we record a 3D double
[11:57:20] <Bronz|work> It would be much better if you could see both our faces, wouldn't it?
[11:57:26] <Aria> Yes
[11:57:35] <Aria> So now I have a camera dedicated to you
[11:57:38] <Bronz|work> I mean, I can wear a traditional blindfold, I think that would be better.
[11:57:42] <Aria> And one to me
[11:57:46] <Aria> And one that shows both of us
[11:57:46] <Bronz|work> So no VR at all, seems gimmicky
[11:58:06] <Aria> How can you see me point if blindfold?!
[11:58:33] <Bronz|work> Oh, right.
[11:58:52] <Bronz|work> Ok, so... your plan was that you wear the VR goggles, and I watch you point and stuff?
[12:01:47] <Aria> Yes
[12:02:10] <Bronz|work> Ok, fair enough.
[12:04:05] <Aria> Also I should've just used a phone as webcam
[12:04:08] <Aria> Would've worked much better
[12:04:13] <Aria> But whatever, I got it working now
[12:21:59] <Aria> Currently Im working on making Dark Souls output in stereo
[12:38:19] <Bronz|work> You wanna see it in 3D?
[12:38:24] <Bronz|work> Or do you mean sound-wise
[12:38:35] <Aria> No 3D graphics
[12:38:52] <Bronz|work> Do remember we actually have to stream it as well...
[12:38:59] <Aria> That's fine
[12:39:01] <Bronz|work> Btw, am I unreasonable here? https://www.reddit.com
[12:40:13] <Aria> No I agree with you
[12:40:39] <Aria> Also the original post is a joke.
[12:41:08] <Bronz|work> Yes.
[12:41:25] <Bronz|work> Ok, that makes me feel a little better.
[12:44:00] <Aria> Okay I think I could make this work, but whatever, we're not playing today anyway
[12:44:03] <Aria> So I'll stop now
[12:51:54] -!- Aria [Aria!Aria@Clk-57D02771.agg2.bdt.bdt-fng.eircom.net] has parted #geeknights
[12:52:00] -!- Aria [Aria!Aria@Clk-57D02771.agg2.bdt.bdt-fng.eircom.net] has joined #geeknights
[14:02:10] <Aria> Okay that can opener is pretty good actually
[14:06:43] <Bronz|work> Now that you're using it properly?
[14:06:48] <Aria> Yeah
[14:06:56] <Bronz|work> I'm glad.
[14:07:16] <Bronz|work> Yeah, don't try to cut through the thickest part of the can...
[14:35:20] <Bronz|work> https://www.reddit.com
[14:39:58] <Aria> Alright
[15:27:28] <Bronz|work> Daniel cancelled the play-date.
[15:27:38] <Aria> Oh alright
[15:27:42] <Aria> Well Ill see you home
[15:27:46] <Aria> Because you're off now, right?
[15:29:59] <Bronz|work> almost...
[15:30:00] <Bronz|work> yeah.
[15:30:19] <Bronz|work> Bye.
[16:32:08] <Apsup> :[ Fire alarm.
[17:35:04] <Aria> Was there a fire?
[17:35:49] <Apsup> Maybe. Most likely someone just fucked up while making food.
[17:36:09] <Aria> Did you not walk outside?
[17:36:20] <Apsup> No. It's cold there.
[17:36:53] <Apsup> I've come to ignore the fire alarms in this building.
[22:25:36] -!- Aria has quit [Read error]
