[09:14:00] <Bronz|Work> Hi guys
[09:14:20] <Apsup> Helloo
[09:14:48] <Aria> Hi
[09:26:51] <Bronz|Work> I need a shower, I think.
[09:33:42] <Aria> From uses Sandlot as a tech consultant. That makes sense.
[09:33:55] <Bronz|Work> ...
[09:33:59] <Bronz|Work> That explains some things.
[11:32:14] <Apsup> Baldur's Gate 2 doesn't work too good on Windows 10. Even after getting it working at all, I can't play it on full screen as it's super slow for some reasona and I can't see the cursor.
[11:32:34] <Aria> Does GoG have it?
[11:32:37] <Apsup> And I prefer to play my games full screen, everything so tiny windowed.
[11:32:41] <Aria> They have fixed some games
[11:32:53] <Aria> Also, IGN broke their forums at some point in the past
[11:32:57] <Apsup> I have gog version, thouhg not sure if there is some sort of fix made later.
[11:33:02] <Aria> And archive org is acting up
[11:33:11] <Aria> So I can't read these threads
[11:34:48] <Apsup> There are also the new Enchaned Editions of Baldur's Gates that probably would work better.
[11:36:24] <Aria> Gog refunds games if they don't work
[11:36:34] <Aria> I don't think they care how long ago you bought it
[11:36:46] <Aria> So you can try swapping out your copy for enhanced
[11:36:53] <Apsup> Sure, but it seems there is patches to the Baldur's Gate.
[11:37:20] <Apsup> Now I just wonder if I could get those somehow without needing to reinstall the whole thing, as that would probably mess up the modding I've done.
[11:37:41] <Bronz|Work> The GOG support is actually pretty good. They know how to get the old games to work and such.
[11:40:18] <Apsup> huh. Gog no longer sells old Baldur's gates alone, but buying the enhanced edition gives the old one. Not relevant to me, but interesting still.
[11:41:50] <Apsup> I wonder, how likely it is that if I reinstall BG 2 on the folder where it's currently that it's gonna fuck up my mods. Very likely I assume.
[11:41:58] <Apsup> Then the question is, will I be able to fix it.
[11:42:39] <Aria> Make a backup.
[11:42:49] <Apsup> Though the mod itself doesn't even matter anymore, as long as my save works.
[11:43:40] <Bronz|Work> The save won't be dependant on the mods, you think?
[11:47:19] <Aria> This is funny. This guy is all "I wanna get an xbox, but maybe I should get a GC. What does GC have?"
[11:47:40] <Aria> And the comments are saying to get a Gamecube because Xbox doesn't have Perfect Dark Zero and Too Human
[11:48:02] <Apsup> Well, it's a big mod. Basically it's one that combines BG1 and 2, so I was able to play BG1 on BG2's engine and continue from one game to other smooothly.
[11:48:02] <Bronz|Work> ...
[11:48:16] <Bronz|Work> Why to get a GC: http://imgur.com
[11:48:20] <Aria> That's a pretty good mod
[11:48:24] <Bronz|Work> Also, that's a pretty invasive mod.
[11:51:08] <Aria> So um. if you don't know
[11:51:26] <Aria> Too Human and Perfect Dark Zero never came out on Gamecube. They came out on Xbox 360
[11:51:33] <Aria> Also they weren't great?
[11:53:46] <Bronz|Work> I did know those things.
[12:00:11] <Aria> Archive org doesn't have gaf before 2006
[12:00:24] <Aria> This shouldn't be difficult
[12:00:51] <Aria> What video game forums were big in the early 2000s?
[12:00:56] <Aria> Like 2001/2002
[12:12:16] <Apsup> Dunno.
[13:47:06] <Bronz|Work> Does anybody say "Elektrikken" when they mean "Trikken", or does everybody use the shortened version?
[13:48:44] <Aria> ...
[13:48:56] <Aria> Trikken as in the tram?
[13:49:13] <Bronz|Work> Yes, is there a different trikken?
[13:49:25] <Aria> People say trikken
[13:49:31] <Aria> What is elektrikken? Is that a hing?
[13:49:58] <Bronz|Work> I guess there's the answer.
[13:50:09] <Bronz|Work> Elektrikken is what electric trams used to be called.
[13:50:34] <Bronz|Work> https://no.wikipedia.org
[13:50:55] <Bronz|Work> "... den elektriske sporveien ble kalt «elektrikken» fra engelske «electric tram» - senere forenklet til «trikken»"
[13:51:20] <Aria> Alright
[13:53:03] <Bronz|Work> You learnt something today!
[13:54:26] <Aria> Yeah
[14:02:20] <Aria> If you look at oil, do you think short short term thats up or down?
[14:05:57] <Aria> "When they realized how bad Super Mario World was they should have pulled
[14:05:57] <Aria> the plug on Miyamoto and gone a different direction. Instead, they went with
[14:05:57] <Aria> the guy, crappy games and all, and we saw inferior 16 bit updates to their 8
[14:05:57] <Aria> bit games, a glut of mediocrity and stagnation, until Sega re-entered the
[14:05:57] <Aria> console market with Saturn. Playstation and Saturn revived and reinvented
[14:05:58] <Aria> things. There WAS no enjoyable 3d home gaming until these systems were
[14:06:01] <Aria> launched. Hell, there was very little enjoyable console gaming period. And
[14:06:03] <Aria> what was his re-entry into the fray? Mario 64. "Here we gooooooooh!" Mario
[14:06:05] <Aria> sounds like a retarded elf now. Great. What's more? The gameplay has been
[14:06:07] <Aria> taken from an intense, multi-paced, precision experience and turned into Disney
[14:06:09] <Aria> on acid. Miyamoto no longer has the ability to make a good game. I am not too
[14:06:11] <Aria> old for his games; his concepts are too old for the gamer's needs. We've
[14:06:13] <Aria> evolved, he's still rehashing his original titles."
[14:06:19] <Aria> Oh that got split up into many messages
[14:06:31] <Aria> Its a quote from a guy on the internet about Wind Waker
[14:08:07] <Bronz|Work> Oil's going down in a few minutes
[14:08:57] <Bronz|Work> That was not worth reading, btw.
[14:10:06] <Aria> Ah but the context makes it worthwhile
[14:10:19] <Aria> Because Mario World and Mario 64 and considered good games now a days
[14:10:31] <Aria> But the popular opinion at the time is that they weren't.
[14:10:55] <Aria> Or at least popular on this message board
[14:11:44] <Apsup> Pretty sure that Mario World and 64 were both popular and generally liked when they came out. Never trust internet, even less so on some 90s internet with ít's ten people in there.
[14:11:50] <Bronz|Work> Hrrm...
[14:12:03] <Apsup> A. People are more likely to talk about what they don't like than what they like.
[14:12:19] <Apsup> B. Tiny tiny tiny minority are the people who talk about games on message boards.
[14:12:46] <Apsup> Speaking of things people don't like, I finished Uncharted 4 and it was poop.
[14:12:48] <Aria> Ok yes, you're right, I didn't mean to imply that cosumers weren't happy with the games
[14:12:59] <Aria> Just the /r/gaming crowd
[14:13:19] <Aria> What was wrong with Uncharted 4? Didn't they fix the aiming?
[14:13:25] <Aria> And walking
[14:13:35] <Aria> And other things that made Uncharted 3 awkward
[14:13:47] <Apsup> Walking was shit, aiming was fine when I was given time to aim.
[14:14:20] <Apsup> In cover based shooter it's good to give some reason for player to move, granades, running out of ammo, breakable cover or flanking enemies.
[14:14:26] <Apsup> A reason. Uncharted threw everything.
[14:15:01] <Apsup> Basically every cover I took was immediadly compromiced and finding new one was pain as enemies moved around everywhere.
[14:15:16] <Aria> That sounds like it can be fun
[14:15:22] <Apsup> sure, more realistic that enemies are smart and flank you, but wasn't fun to plya.
[14:15:31] <Aria> Was the actual issue finding new cover?
[14:15:42] <Apsup> If game is desinged so that you must take damamge and then heal it, then give me room to heal.
[14:15:49] <Apsup> Sometimes.
[14:16:10] <Aria> Do enemies not make it clear they are going to hurt you ahead of time of actually hurting you?
[14:16:13] <Apsup> In many situations finding cover that wasn't being flanked, while you were being shot at was pain.
[14:16:26] <Apsup> Not if they come from behind or side or other blind angle.
[14:16:56] <Apsup> Also climbing was poop, even more so if you did it under fire. Ether by design or by accident as Drake controlled like a drunk man.
[14:17:42] <Aria> That's a shame. The game looks so good in the trailer that I wanted to give it a shot just to see the materials
[14:17:57] <Aria> But I haven't liked any Uncharted game
[14:18:02] <Apsup> It took me a while to realize that the climbing was partially camera based, so even if you pushed up on a ledge, unless camera was in right angle behind Drake, he wouldn't climb up.
[14:18:55] <Apsup> And usually if you press X while climbing he only jumps if there is something to jump to and even then you ofen have to really force him to jump. And in some times Nathan just gives up on life and jumps to his death.
[14:20:59] <Aria> They should do a thing where if you are about to jump to your death, the camera shifts to show you where you're gonna jump to, and you have to hit X again to confirm
[14:22:41] <Aria> What? "
[14:22:42] <Aria> 1024x768 is expected but I too would be surprised if it did true HDTV.
[14:22:42] <Aria> There are three HDTV standards: 1920x1035, 1920x1152 and 1600x1200. I
[14:22:42] <Aria> doubt the U64 will support either of them; 'compatible', yes. Support? No."
[14:22:59] <Aria> But TVs back then didn't even do HD...
[14:23:16] <Aria> Did he think N64 was being designed around VGA monitors?
[14:24:26] <Aria> Also good greif, it couldn't even do good looking games (Ocarina) at more than 20hz with 240px or whatever
[14:25:18] <Aria> >.> Stupid oil
[14:28:59] <Aria> I've lost 1000 eur since Monday
[14:30:02] <Bronz|Work> ok, bye
[14:39:51] <Aria> Sorry did I say 1000? make it 1500 T_T
[23:18:17] -!- Aria has quit [Ping timeout: 180 seconds]
