[10:33:52] <Bronzdragon> Hey Apsup.
[10:41:13] <Apsup> Heya
[10:47:34] <Bronzdragon> What is going on?
[10:51:00] <Apsup> Trying to get some stuff to done for the game project
[10:51:21] <Apsup> Had to fix my pause menu first as my friend had broken it.
[10:53:19] <Bronzdragon> Oh, A+ work!
[10:53:45] <Bronzdragon> I've been working on my re-write, because the mess of code I wrote was so confusing it was taking me way too long to do anything.
[10:54:01] <Bronzdragon> I don't think it actually gained me any speed though.

[12:47:33] <Aria> This ESO survey
[12:47:39] <Aria> has the same questions multiple times
[12:47:46] <Aria> these two questions are right after each other:
[12:47:53] <Aria> "I feel powerful in combat"
[12:48:14] <Aria> "I often felt powerful in combat"
[12:49:22] <Bronzdragon> You're supposed to have the same question multiple times.
[12:49:29] <Aria> Why?
[12:49:39] <Bronzdragon> That's how you can make sure your question was phrased correctly
[12:49:46] <Aria> But...
[12:49:50] <Aria> its not written differently!
[12:49:52] <Bronzdragon> And that the context of the other questions didn't influence the rest
[12:50:06] <Bronzdragon> And that people didn't change their mind at any point
[12:50:18] <Bronzdragon> And that people aren't filling the form out randomly, and are actually paying attention.
[12:51:13] <Bronzdragon> Also, I hate to be Mr. Buzz Killington, but don't you have work to do?
[12:51:27] <Aria> Lunch break
[12:52:27] -!- Kulag has quit [Ping timeout: 187 seconds]
[12:53:38] <Bronzdragon> I see.
[12:53:43] <Bronzdragon> How is your lunch?

[12:59:33] <Aria> Good!
[12:59:53] <Bronzdragon> That's good.

[15:19:37] <Bronzdragon> Hello.
[15:55:52] -!- spacejam [spacejam!spacejam@hide-6049A045.nyc.res.rr.com] has joined #geeknights
[16:00:48] <Bronzdragon> https://soundcloud.com
[16:01:36] <spacejam> first five seconds - GRTDHG
[16:02:43] <spacejam> https://soundcloud.com
[16:11:45] <Bronzdragon> So, besides jammin', whatcha upto?
[16:12:16] <spacejam> looking up kitchen parts
[16:12:36] <Bronzdragon> Aha!
[16:12:44] <Bronzdragon> Yeah, okay.
[16:12:57] <spacejam> you?
[16:13:25] <Bronzdragon> Still workin' on that Dark Souls mod.
[16:13:35] <Bronzdragon> I got slightly more of it to work, so that's good.
[16:13:49] <spacejam> oi
[16:13:54] <spacejam> i just tried dark souls yesterday
[16:14:00] <spacejam> completely unplayable without a controller or a mod
[16:14:49] <Bronzdragon> Yeah...
[16:14:55] <Bronzdragon> There are people who do. Those people are crazy.
[16:15:16] <spacejam> they didn't even remove the (A) and (B) bits
[16:15:37] <spacejam> pretty sure an elderly couple with ms paint could have fixed those
[16:15:43] <Bronzdragon> So are you gonna get a controller now? Or just give up.
[16:15:56] <spacejam> controller eventually, mod first
[16:16:02] <spacejam> probably civ v before either of those
[16:16:05] <Bronzdragon> Dark Souls Mouse Fix?
[16:16:14] <Bronzdragon> Also, don't forget to get Dark Souls Fix first.
[16:16:15] <spacejam> don't know
[16:16:21] <spacejam> i'll just google them all
[16:16:48] <spacejam> i don't mind mouselook, just need better control and better configured keys
[16:16:57] <Bronzdragon> Listen, when you try again, feel free to talk to me, or Aria. Aria's a bit of a Dark Souls nut. He'll help you until you die of too much help.
[16:17:06] <spacejam> the default keyboard controls appear to be equivalent to 3 d pads
[16:17:15] <spacejam> noted, will do
[16:17:24] <spacejam> thanks
[16:17:26] <Bronzdragon> Oh god, the item switching is so terrible.
[16:17:45] <Bronzdragon> Since I debug my mod, I sometimes don't feel like bothering to connect the controller
[16:17:48] <spacejam> it's like when i was a kid
[16:17:55] <spacejam> pressing keys and having no idea what they do
[16:18:06] <Bronzdragon> So I just kind of have to limp along with the keyboard until I can find someone to die against.
[16:18:16] <Bronzdragon> Worst thing is that it takes SOOOO LOOONG to start up.
[16:19:56] <spacejam> it starts up fine on my computer
[16:20:11] <spacejam> the opening cinematic was so skippy that i'm pretty sure i need to rewatch it on youtube
[16:20:45] <spacejam> what's a good controller?
[16:21:04] <Bronzdragon> Well, the most common controller is the xbox 360 one
[16:21:23] <spacejam> any chance there's a good wireless version of that?
[16:21:23] <Bronzdragon> Though PS3 is also fine, I think you might need one extra piece of software.
[16:21:34] <Bronzdragon> PS4/Xbone are slightly better.
[16:21:41] <Bronzdragon> Oh, wireless 360?
[16:21:54] <Bronzdragon> You'll need to buy a PC dongle, which is out of production
[16:21:55] <spacejam> or xbone/ps4
[16:22:23] <Bronzdragon> Xbone and PS4, I don't know how they work wirelessly, but their charging cable also acts as a data cable.
[16:23:06] <Bronzdragon> Apperantly, Xbox One is not (yet) compatible
[16:23:21] <Aria> \Steam\steamapps\common\Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition\DATA and then there is a folder named "video" or something. In there is the opening a WMV format if I remember correctly
[16:23:35] <Bronzdragon> Wait, what?
[16:24:02] <spacejam> huh
[16:24:11] <spacejam> my computer never has problems opening WMV files usually
[16:24:23] <Bronzdragon> I don't know what Aria's talking about.
[16:24:28] <spacejam> this one chewed up my CPU all the time
[16:24:29] <Aria> The pre rendered cutscenes are just video files
[16:24:32] <spacejam> he's probably talking aobut the intro video
[16:24:40] <Aria> in the game dir
[16:24:42] <Bronzdragon> I got that far.
[16:24:43] <Bronzdragon> But why?
[16:24:47] <Aria> You remove them to skip the opening
[16:24:50] <spacejam> because it was skippy on my version
[16:24:50] <Aria> because spacejam said it lagged
[16:24:57] <Bronzdragon> Oh I see.
[16:25:00] <spacejam> oh you mean i have to watch that 5 minute business all the time?
[16:25:05] <spacejam> i thought that was just when i started the first game
[16:25:10] <Bronzdragon> Nah, just the first time.
[16:25:14] <Bronzdragon> Well, every character you make
[16:25:15] <spacejam> cool
[16:25:21] <Aria> Just every time you create your first character for the first time
[16:25:30] <Aria> But I kept deleting my save that one time
[16:25:32] <Bronzdragon> PS4, you'll need the charging cable to use.
[16:25:32] <Aria> so it was annoying
[16:25:41] <Aria> 360 controller is cheap, dongle is cheap
[16:25:43] <Aria> Use that
[16:25:52] <spacejam> any wireless 360 controllers good?
[16:25:57] <Bronzdragon> Oh, I found it for way cheap! http://www.amazon.com
[16:26:05] <Aria> we use those. We've got 6 of them across the two of us
[16:26:24] <spacejam> do you have weekday and weekend ones or something?
[16:26:51] <Aria> We have "I don't wanna stretch my arm all the way over there"-spares
[16:26:58] <Bronzdragon> Well, we had 2 xboxs, right?
[16:27:03] <Bronzdragon> So those both come with 1.
[16:27:22] <Bronzdragon> Then, on my birthday after I got mine, I got 3 controllers (2 from my mom, and one from my sister), way long ago
[16:27:22] <Aria> And then four were bought for Sonic Kart...
[16:27:37] <Aria> I liked my story more =P
[16:27:47] <Bronzdragon> But then I wanted to play on PC, so I bought my 5th controller to get the dongle. Also, that one was black, and the others were white.
[16:28:10] <Bronzdragon> And that's the story of how I had 5 Xbox controllers, even though I only ever used 1.
[16:28:28] <Bronzdragon> In fact, I'd totally be up for shipping spacejam one, because we have way too many anyway.
[16:28:46] <spacejam> the shipping would cost as much as the controller
[16:28:49] <Aria> We use Gamecube controllers more often than we use 360 controllers
[16:28:54] <Aria> Probably, yes
[16:29:23] <Bronzdragon> True...
[16:29:30] <Bronzdragon> Also, I'd have to get over to the postoffice
[16:29:30] <Aria> I really enjoy the "Wii classic controller Pro", but Bronz doesn't like that one...
[16:29:35] <Bronzdragon> Which is like, an hour long walk.
[16:29:46] <spacejam> wow
[16:29:52] <spacejam> they really don't want you to send mail
[16:30:09] <Aria> He went as far as to play Castlevania with a PS2 controller, because the "dpad is less stiff"
[16:30:13] <Bronzdragon> Anywya, long story short, get any controller you want, the 360 controller with dongle is the most popular choice.
[16:30:24] <Bronzdragon> No no no, I said "less painful".
[16:30:35] <spacejam> haha
[16:30:38] <Bronzdragon> It's uncomfortalbe to use that pro controller.
[16:30:44] <spacejam> is there any advantage to wired that you could tell
[16:31:07] <Aria> No
[16:31:09] <Bronzdragon> You don't have to deal with batteries
[16:31:10] <Aria> No batteries
[16:31:17] <Bronzdragon> Which, honestly, is a pretty big deal
[16:31:27] <Bronzdragon> Also, since I have really long fingers, the battery pack is in the way.
[16:31:49] <Aria> Yeah, but not dealing with cables is also nice
[16:31:58] <Aria> the GC controllers always get tangled
[16:32:04] <Bronzdragon> Oh, and if you don't connect your controller before the game starts, it sometimes doesn't work.
[16:32:19] <Aria> That is the case for many games
[16:32:20] <Bronzdragon> So there is the "Oh, I have to quit the game and start it again" because it's not always plugged in.
[16:32:31] <Bronzdragon> If it's cabled, that's not an issue, because it's always on.
[16:33:02] <Aria> We also have a wired 360 controller... a third party one, but it looks like the regular 360 controller.
[16:33:08] <Aria> That one had some issue...
[16:33:24] <Aria> Oh right, when its plugged in, opther controllers don't work sometimes
[16:33:32] <spacejam> well as long as there's no meaningful lag, i'll probably go wireless just in case i use the tv
[16:33:49] <Bronzdragon> One thing to note about the 360 pad is that the d-pad is kinda bad. If you want to play anything that uses the D-pad extensivly (think emulators) get the one with the redesigned d-pad, or a different controller.
[16:34:07] <spacejam> redesigned d-pad...
[16:34:09] <Bronzdragon> Practically, there is no lag at all.
[16:34:17] <Aria> What Bronz said
[16:34:20] <Bronzdragon> the d-pad rotates to transform into a better one.
[16:34:42] <Aria> It starts bad, and then you rotate it and it clicks into place so its good
[16:34:47] <spacejam> http://www.amazon.com
[16:34:48] <Aria> To get around the Nintendo patent
[16:35:05] <Aria> Correct
[16:35:09] <Bronzdragon> Yes, that has the better d-pad.
[16:35:19] <Bronzdragon> Don't forget you need the dongle too, which I'm not sure this has.
[16:35:47] <Aria> 50USD? Isnt that a bit expensive?
[16:35:51] <spacejam> that was the thing you sent earlier
[16:35:54] <spacejam> it seems pricier
[16:35:58] <Bronzdragon> Or. OR! uy a
[16:36:03] <Bronzdragon> Buy a flightstick!
[16:36:07] <Bronzdragon> Yeah!
[16:36:42] <Aria> For all your Dark Souls needs http://www.amazon.com
[16:37:14] <spacejam> uhm, no
[16:37:27] <Bronzdragon> 10/10 would use to pet Sif.
[16:37:42] <Aria> Holy shit whats going on here? http://ecx.images-amazon.com
[16:37:46] <Aria> thats some intense petting!
[16:38:08] <Bronzdragon> ^_~
[16:43:13] <Bronzdragon> http://imgur.com
[16:46:56] <Aria> Yeah so get a controller and then play with us.
[16:47:05] <Aria> Yoshokatana didn't wanna play with us =(
[16:47:09] <Bronzdragon> =(
[16:47:18] <Aria> Neither did GauntletWizard!
[16:47:22] <yoshokatana> I'm at work :p
[16:47:26] <spacejam> you're really selling me here
[16:47:28] <Aria> So am I!
[16:47:28] <spacejam> haha
[16:47:42] <spacejam> i gotta get the mods first
[16:47:55] <spacejam> but games that aren't spacechem aren't supposed to be work...
[16:48:40] <Bronzdragon> What about Octo-dad
[16:48:46] <Bronzdragon> That's supposed to be work too!
[16:49:00] <spacejam> fair point
[16:49:02] <spacejam> i don't have octodad
[16:49:06] <Bronzdragon> Euro-truck simulator
[16:49:16] <Bronzdragon> Really, anything-simulator
[16:49:19] <spacejam> that's more of a semi-realistic truck experience
[16:49:25] <Aria> I just wrote this ticket "Explained to user that computer is 8 years old and old. User will throw the computer out."
[16:49:43] <spacejam> parts of my computer are older than that
[16:50:01] <Aria> It was a laptop
[16:50:28] <spacejam> ooh fun
[16:50:37] <spacejam> you could install linux on it
[16:50:43] <spacejam> like we do on all useless electronics!
[16:51:05] <Aria> He asked if he could film himself breaking it and put it on youtube
[16:51:15] <Aria> he seemed pretty excite, so didn't wanna take that away from him.
[16:51:24] <Aria> I doubt he'll actually go through with it.
[16:51:29] <spacejam> i would watch that
[16:53:51] <Bronzdragon> https://www.youtube.com You're welcome
[16:56:05] <spacejam> it's actually pretty hard to destroy a laptop
[16:56:15] <Bronzdragon> Surprisingly.
[16:56:29] <Aria> I wanna see someone try to destroy a gamecube...
[16:57:45] <spacejam> surprisingly unsatisfying
[16:58:13] <spacejam> no explosions or bits flying up into the air
[16:59:08] <Bronzdragon> That's because you don't have enough explosives in the Gamecube
[17:00:31] <spacejam> it's like snapping a piece of cardboard in half
[17:01:40] <spacejam> http://www.youtube.com
[17:11:55] <Aria> So when are you off work?
[17:13:22] <spacejam> who me? not for a while
[17:21:15] <Aria> Yes
[17:21:20] <Aria> I can go when I feel like it
[17:21:41] <Aria> So if you're gonna go home soon,
[17:21:57] <Aria> I can go before you and be ready for dark souls coop!
[17:22:09] <Bronzdragon> He wouldn't have a controller still though.
[17:22:24] <Aria> He lives in America. They have physical stores there
[17:22:38] <Aria> Or so I hear
[17:22:48] <Aria> I dunno. I don't even know what a physical store is
[17:22:54] <Aria> But I hear its like instant Amazon.
[17:22:57] <Bronzdragon> More like SADmerica
[17:23:08] <Aria> Wuh?
[17:23:11] <Bronzdragon> Oh, like the Amazon drone program?
[17:23:24] <Aria> But even faster!
[17:24:04] <Bronzdragon> I've heard they beta-tested the drones in the middle east.
[17:24:24] <Bronzdragon> People claim it's a violation of human rights, but that seems like an overstatement a little.
[17:24:39] <Aria> >_>
[17:25:04] <spacejam> yeah i think my play dark souls programme will be moving at a somewhat more glacial pace
[17:25:13] <spacejam> i might play some borderlands 2, but i'm kinda gamed out at the moment
[17:25:37] <Bronzdragon> borderlands? more like boarderlands!
[17:25:44] <Bronzdragon> Wait, no, that's not how you say that
[17:25:52] <Bronzdragon> More like borederlands
[17:26:15] <Aria> Why isn't ruffas in here?
[17:26:30] <spacejam> lol
[17:26:36] <Bronzdragon> Currently, he's not on Skype.
[17:26:38] <Bronzdragon> But yeah, I miss him
[17:26:44] <Bronzdragon> I talked to him again this morning a little.
[17:29:04] <Aria> tell him IRC exists between 10 and 17
[17:29:16] <Aria> (and then a bit I guess, today)
[17:29:32] <Bronzdragon> I'll see.
[18:02:28] <Aria> Ok, heading home
[18:02:30] <Aria> bye now
[18:02:37] <Bronzdragon> Cya soon.
[19:27:33] -!- ruffas [ruffas!44cd62eb@hide-6C77D8AA.mibbit.com] has joined #geeknights
[19:53:17] <Bronzdragon> HEY RUFFAS
[19:53:32] <Bronzdragon> Sorry for not noticing you sooner, I was eating/pining for an Oculus rift.
[19:54:05] <ruffas> ooh
[19:54:14] <ruffas> is that like pining for the fjords?
[19:54:20] <Bronzdragon> Aria wants to add an Razer Hydra.
[19:55:03] <ruffas> fancy mouse?
[19:55:19] <Bronzdragon> Imagine a Wii-mote, but with way better tracking
[19:55:25] <Bronzdragon> And then two of those.
[19:55:47] <Bronzdragon> (Like, good enough for an FPS).
[19:56:05] <Bronzdragon> Actually, it looks a lot more like a move navitation controller.
[19:56:09] <ruffas> ooh, that thing
[19:57:49] <ruffas> they 'spensive?
[19:58:09] <Bronzdragon> Yeah, 300 bucks, though they seem really hard to buy.
[19:58:24] <Bronzdragon> Same for the rift, though that comes with 4 months of Unity Pro.
[19:58:57] <Bronzdragon> (1 year is 1500, so basically, you get a free rift with your Unity)
[20:02:37] <ruffas> cool?
[20:02:54] <ruffas> you been playing with unity?
[20:03:02] <Bronzdragon> A little bit
[20:03:16] <Bronzdragon> Not hugely
[20:03:44] <Bronzdragon> Aria wants to make a specific game in UDK though, so unity wouldn't help much.
[20:06:23] <Bronzdragon> Victor Frost made QI his thing of the day
[20:06:30] <Bronzdragon> The TV show, what's that about.
[20:15:31] <ruffas> QI's a pretty good thing
[20:15:47] <Bronzdragon> I know, but it's not like... totd material.
[20:15:51] <Bronzdragon> all of it, I mean.
[20:16:20] <ruffas> I figured
[20:16:33] <Bronzdragon> You disagree though?
[20:17:01] <ruffas> only that it's probably not a TotD because he already knew about it
[20:18:15] <spacejam> who's victor frost?
[20:18:27] <Bronzdragon> I think it's Sonic
[20:18:32] <Bronzdragon> From the forums
[20:47:57] <Apsup> Steam has a new feature, they have tags for games in the store and they tell you what kinds of games you like.
[20:48:49] <spacejam> nice
[20:48:53] <spacejam> on beta or everywhere?
[20:49:48] <Apsup> everywhere I think.
[20:49:55] <Apsup> It's on the frontpage of the store.
[20:49:56] <spacejam> looking for it
[20:50:09] <Apsup> Not sure how useful it is. It recommends you your wishlist games.
[20:50:25] <spacejam> ahh
[20:50:26] <spacejam> umm
[20:50:27] <spacejam> Action
[20:50:28] <spacejam> ok
[20:50:32] <spacejam> i'll get some action games
[20:50:55] <Bronzdragon> Action sounds like something people would enjoy.
[20:51:03] <Apsup> Also I wonder how the tags are created. As it pretends that Garry's Mod is F2P game.
[20:51:07] <spacejam> i also like something called "Strategy"
[20:51:16] <spacejam> i wonder where i can get "strategy" games
[20:51:52] <spacejam> guess we'll have to wait for the crowd to source me some
[21:00:25] <Apsup> On other news, the final boss of Devil Survivor 2 is annoying. And hard.

[22:31:36] <Bronzdragon> Good night, all of you.
