Tonight on GeekNights, we review Cédric Millet's Meeple Circus. It's a stacking dexterity game that doesn't have some of the fundamental problems of games like Villa Paletti or Jenga, and it captures the component stacking ways of basically everyone who's ever played tabletop games.
Tonight on GeekNights, is he a MAN? A DEVIL? A DEVILMAN? We consider the recent hit DEVILMAN crybaby, which has been generating surprising interest and may well be the first introduction of a new generation of anime fans to Go Nagai. Directed by Masaaki Yuasa, it's evocative of the ultra-violent OAVs of 90s US anime fandom, but with a modern sensibility. Warning: it's ultra ultra violent.
Tonight on GeekNights, beyond our review of the original Little Witch Academia short, we review the full canon of the Little Witch Academia anime. In the news, Dan Slott is leaving Spider Man behind for a different man, Aggretsuko is going to be a Sanrio x Netflix anime, and Judge Anime By Its Cover: Winter 2017 is available for your enjoyment.
Tonight on GeekNights we review Hisashi Hayashi's Rattaneer. It's cute pirate rats with blind bids and severe consequences. In the news, Dr. K has a follow-on to Tigris & Euphrates coming with Yellow & Yangtze, Superhot VR is super hot, the Overwatch League continues to exist, there's some ridiculous streaming rights drama in espots, and we've judged more anime.
Tonight on GeekNights, we review Studio PONOC's Mary and the Witch's Flower. It's not bad per se, but it is definitely flawed. In the news, there is a 12th Yowamushi Pedal stage play, and the New York International Children's Film Festival has a fantastic 2018 lineup that we will definitely be seeing.
Tonight on GeekNights, we review the classic Beast King GoLion, which you may know as Voltron. It's probably not what you expect if you've only ever seen the American "adaptation," and it's worth watching at least a few episodes even if you think you hate "robot shows."
In the news, Ed Piskor's X-Men: Grand Design is looking pretty excellent, Pixar's Coco was utterly fantastic, and we'll be at both PAX South and MAGFest! Join the GeekNights Forum or check us out on Patreon!
Tonight on GeekNights, we review Stranger Things. In case you're wondering how Rym convinced Scott to watch this amazing show, he didn't. This is a Rym and Emily special! We thoroughly enjoyed this show, and have since moved on to finish the second season. It perfectly evokes the era in which it is set, and is definitely worth watching.
